Artful Academia
The musings of a landscape painter, art teacher, and art history lover
I don't do a lot of architectural paintings, but this building caught my eye, and I gave it a shot. While driving through a small town in upstate New York, I spotted this building with sunlight just hitting its side. It was a beautiful moment with the warm light moving through the foliage of a large tree and then dancing across the old red bricks.
The whole scene recalls a time in America that has passed. It has a lonely Edward Hopper quality and seems to be asking us for a return to more simple days. A time when we knew our neighbors and all possibilities were in front of us. I like this one.

Fascinating article, Bruce! The way you capture the mood of the old brick building with your oil painting is truly captivating. It does have a certain melancholic quality, reminiscent of Edward Hopper's work. As an SEO Specialist and content writer specializing in UK Market for Loft Boarding services, I often think about how spaces can be transformed and given new life. I wonder if you've ever considered using a similar technique to showcase the potential of loft conversions? The way light interacts with exposed brick and beams can be truly magical, creating a unique and inviting atmosphere. What do you think?
