The musings of a landscape painter, art teacher, and art history lover
Painting an old brick building
I don't do a lot of architectural paintings, but this building caught my eye, and I gave it a shot. While driving through a small town in upstate New York, I spotted this building with sunlight just hitting its side. It was a beautiful moment with the warm light moving through the foliage of a large tree and then dancing across the old red bricks.
The whole scene recalls a time in America that has passed. It has a lonely Edward Hopper quality and seems to be asking us for a return to more simple days. A time when we knew our neighbors and all possibilities were in front of us.
I like this one.
