My Story: I just keep painting
It is with a truly grateful heart that I welcome you to Bruce Black Art. I have been making artwork for as long as I can remember, growing up in Phoenix and painting since my little fingers could hold a brush. Making art is a beautiful soul filling activity for me, and it is my great pleasure to share my work on this site with you. I work primarily in watercolors, and seem to move from abstraction to realism and back again, at a fairly regular pace. My tendency is towards design. I love all types, and seem to be designing in my mind all the time. Design is a form of visual organization, and as such, it is very satisfying for me to create visual order through working with my hands.
I earned a Bachelors of Fine Art from the University of Arizona in 1993 and then went on to get a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Delaware in 1998. Following which, I moved to Oregon where I took a teaching position at Willamette University. After some time there, it seemed right to get back to Arizona, and here I am. I have a loving wife, Marla, and a wonderful son, Liam. When I am not in the studio, you can find me teaching art to high school students or ( hopefully) on the golf course or taking a hike in the desert. Please enjoy my original handmade artwork on this site and contact me with any questions. Don't forget to follow me on Instagram and Facebook. All the best, Bruce. |
