Bruce Black, An Arizona artist
Welcome to Bruce Black Art, where the colors and beauty of the southwest are infused into every painting. As an Arizona artist, I draw my inspiration from the stunning landscapes, skies, deserts, and mountains that surround me. Nature is my inexhaustible muse, and I am grateful to be able to capture its essence in my art.
While Phoenix may be a bustling big city, it is still easy to escape into nature and experience all that Arizona has to offer. Whether I am hiking in the desert or exploring the mountains, I am constantly inspired by the rich textures and colorations of the natural world. Recently, I have been re-studying oil painting techniques associated with the master painters of the Baroque and Impressionist eras. By focusing on these foundational skills, I have been able to create stronger, more lasting images that capture the essence of the southwest. While my art education emphasized expression over technique, I have found joy in learning traditional painting techniques that have been passed down through generations. I earned a Bachelors of Fine Art from the University of Arizona in 1993 and a Masters of Fine Art from the University of Delaware in 1998. After teaching at Willamette University in Oregon, I felt drawn back to Arizona, where I now live with my loving wife, Marla, and our wonderful son, Liam. When I am not in the studio, I enjoy teaching art to high school students, golfing, and exploring the desert. I hope you enjoy my original southwestern inspired paintings as much as I enjoy creating them. Please feel free to contact me with any questions and follow me on Instagram and Facebook to stay up-to-date on my latest works. Thank you for visiting Bruce Black Art. |
