These sculptures blow me away! You won't believe these amazing "purses" are made of solid stone. It just doesn't seem possible. Japanese artist, Hirotoshi Itoh creates stone sculptures that appear to be supple fabric, defying the brain's ability to translate what the eye is seeing. Itoh transforms river stones into surprising sculptures that are at once, witty and philosophical. They recall the hyper realism of artists such as Vija Celmins while also maintaining a traditional sense of stone sculpting dating back to antiquity. They are truly a fresh and energized form of traditional sculpture.
A Pictorial Survey of History's Most Famous Abstract Artists
Don't miss this gorgeous and informative slideshow of the worlds most famous abstract artists. These artists include long deceased as well as still living (and thriving) artists. I hope you love these beautiful paintings as much as I do. May they inspire you to make your own creative works and to see beauty in the world.
Now it's your turn. You don't have to be a billionaire to start an art collection. Did you know that you can buy original art right from this website for as low as $270? Take a look......and sorry I don't do gum paintings.
These large painting offer a lot to look at and think about, in terms of how they were made and what meaning that might add to the artwork. The article mentions Cy Twombly, due to the graphic scrawls across the paintings, but the images are far to minimal for me to conjure Twombly's spirit. I think Robert Ryman's white paintings might be more applicable, but you decide for yourself.
I happen to love ice cream and I love books. Which means I love these designs by Ben Denzer. These amazing designs feel more like contemporary art than ice cream and books, but maybe they are all three. Way to go Ben! You can find more of Ben's amazing designs at: http://bendenzer.com/
